A short walk from the port leads to several key historic and cultural sites. The Province House National Historic Site is known as the Birthplace of Confederation, where the framework for Canada was first debated in 1864. Nearby, the Confederation Centre of the Arts is a major cultural hub, featuring an art gallery, museum, and theatre famous for its long-running production of 'Anne of Green Gables – The Musical™'.

The city's skyline is dominated by the twin spires of St. Dunstan's Basilica, a magnificent example of High Victorian Gothic architecture that welcomes visitors. For a glimpse into the island's prosperous past, the elegant Beaconsfield Historic House offers tours of a beautifully preserved Victorian home on the waterfront.

The most popular destination outside the city is Cavendish, home to sites related to Lucy Maud Montgomery's famous novel. Here you can visit Green Gables Heritage Place, the inspiration for the setting of 'Anne of Green Gables'. The journey from Charlottetown to Cavendish takes approximately 40 minutes by car.

Adjacent to Cavendish is the stunning Prince Edward Island National Park, which protects a large portion of the island's north shore. The park is famous for its sandy beaches, red sandstone cliffs, and extensive trail systems, offering a beautiful natural escape accessible as part of a day tour from the port.

The Port of Charlottetown boasts an ideal location, with cruise ships docking directly in the heart of the historic downtown area. There is no need for tendering. This prime position allows passengers to step off the ship and immediately begin exploring the city's main attractions on foot.

The cruise terminal is adjacent to Founders' Food Hall & Market, a vibrant space with local food vendors, artisan shops, and a visitor information center. The city's main streets, such as Queen Street and Victoria Row, are just a five-minute walk away, eliminating the need for shuttles or taxis to reach the central district.

Taxis are readily available at the pier upon ship arrival for trips to destinations further afield. For public transport, T3 Transit operates the city's bus network, though it's generally not necessary for tourists focused on the downtown core. Ride-sharing services have limited availability on the island, with traditional taxis being the more reliable option.

Shopping in Charlottetown offers a mix of local boutiques, artisan crafts, and nationally recognized stores. Victoria Row, a picturesque pedestrian-only street, is lined with specialty shops and galleries. Queen Street and the Confederation Court Mall provide a more traditional shopping experience.

Prices are fixed, and negotiation is not customary in retail stores.
