The primary attraction is Galle Fort, an expansive 17th-century fortification located just ten minutes from the pier. Within the fort walls, visitors can admire Galle Lighthouse, the oldest light station in Sri Lanka, offering sweeping views of the bay.

Art and history enthusiasts can explore the nearby National Maritime Museum and the historic Dutch Reformed Church, both easily walkable within a few hours. For those willing to travel further inland, a day excursion to Mulkirigala Rock Temple (Mulkirigala Raja Maha Vihara) showcases ancient cave temples and monastic ruins roughly two hours away.

Just six kilometers south of the port lies Unawatuna, a popular beach town reachable in 15 minutes, famous for its golden sand and calm bay. Further north along the coast, Hikkaduwa is located about 20 kilometers away (a 35-minute drive) and is well-known for its vibrant coral reefs and turtle sanctuaries.
