Taxis are also available at a designated rank near the port but can be quite expensive. Ride-sharing services like Uber or Lyft are not generally available in Harstad. For exploring the surrounding islands, organized shore excursions are the most convenient option.

Shopping in Harstad is centered around the downtown streets near the main square, Rikard Kaarbøs plass, and within the Bysenteret shopping mall. Cruise passengers can find a variety of shops selling authentic Norwegian goods.
